Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for purportedly engaging in currency mutilation and abuse of the Nigerian naira.
The arrest, confirmed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, took place at the prestigious Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Wednesday. According to Oyewale, Bobrisky was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in various acts deemed harmful to the integrity of the nation’s currency.
“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others,” stated Oyewale.
The EFCC has underscored its commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of the Nigerian currency, emphasizing that individuals found engaging in activities detrimental to the integrity of the naira will face the full force of the law.
“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon,” Oyewale added.
