Sobomabo Jackrich, the National Rescue Movement’s candidate for governor of Rivers State in the general election of 2023, was kidnapped on Monday morning from his home in Usokun, Degema Local Government Area, by masked gunmen dressed in military uniforms.

According to reports, the attackers, who are still at large, shot and killed two of Jackrich’s supporters during the raid at his home at around three in the morning.

The assailants then kidnapped Jackrich, a former militant leader referred to as “Egberipapa” who had earlier accepted amnesty under the administration of the late President Umar Yar’Adua.

“We don’t know exactly who is behind it. But as the details unfold, we will let the public know about it.”

The former militant leader was taken away by the military, according to a source who spoke to Newsmen under the condition of anonymity, adding, “His residence was condoned.”

As of the filing of this article, Lt Col. Jonah Danjuma, the acting deputy director of the Division of Army Public Relations, could not be reached.
