Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna North Central Senatorial Zone, expressed gratitude to God for disclosing the truth about the $350 loan between him and the state’s most recent governor, Nasiru El-Rufai.

He disclosed that El-Rufai had publicly abused and cursed at him.

Speaking to reporters recently, the senator clarified that he made every effort to prevent the state from incurring excessive debt under the previous governor.

He explained, “What more would I tell them? I have said all I needed to say. While in office I warned the Kaduna State government against taking loans and even blocked access to such loans.

“Former Governor Nasiru El-Rufai fought me on this, insulted me because of this and even cursed me. I told him then that time will reveal who truly loves the people of Kaduna between myself and him.

“Today he is no longer in power and those he put in place are now condemning his funds’ misappropriation, as well as the loans they secured.”

Governor of Kaduna State Uba Sani had lamented his inability to pay salaries to employees because of the $350 million debt load—second only to Lagos State in Nigeria—lead by his predecessor, El-Rufai.

Since then, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has opened an investigation into the money.

Sani had called for an independent probe of the former administration.
