While widespread hardship resulted from policies undertaken by Tinubu’s government, Senegalese President Bassirou Faye voiced trust in Bola Tinubu’s experience and knowledge to give effective leadership for maintaining unity and peace.

These were the statements made by President Faye on Thursday during her visit to Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He emphasised Senegal’s and Nigeria’s same goals, values, and difficulties while pointing out that the two countries have had cordial relations since the 1960s.

In an effort to strengthen bilateral ties in trade, diplomacy, and other areas, the president of Senegal called for the revival of the joint commission between Nigeria and Senegal.

He expressed confidence that with Tinubu’s knowledge and experience leading ECOWAS, member state relations could be improved and the community’s overall progress could be furthered.

Mr Faye said, “ECOWAS is the beacon of successful regional integration in Africa and globally. It is something we owe to the founding fathers of the community, and I have no doubt that you want to continue this legacy of integration.

“I know I can rely on your wisdom and experience, as the leader of this great African nation and the more recent example of Senegal, so that together, hand in hand, we can grow together and that we can discuss with our brothers and convince them to come back into the fold.”
