NAF Precision Airstrikes Neutralize Over 100 Bandits in Zamfara State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deployed precision airstrikes to neutralize a significant threat posed by a group of bandits in Zamfara State. This successful mission, aptly named ‘MopDemAll,’ resulted in the elimination of over 100 bandits who were on a mass movement.

These bandits were part of a larger group making their way from a forest within Zamfara State. Their ominous intent was to travel to neighboring Kebbi State to launch attacks on communities.

However, when the bandits learned that the Nigerian troops were patrolling the route, they quickly retreated back to the safety of the Dansadau forest in the Maru Local Government area of Zamfara State.

The Nigerian Airforce then took swift and decisive action, engaging the bandits in a targeted airstrike. The operation led to the neutralization of over 100 of these criminals, leaving their motorcycles burnt and several others injured.

Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, the spokesperson of the Military in the state, confirmed the incident and the successful neutralization of the bandits within the Dansadau forest. He stated, “It is true that our men were able to neutralize some bandits who wanted to attack some communities. Many of them were neutralized on the spot, but I cannot actually tell you their number.”

Aderemi Adeoye, the commissioner of police in Anambra State, has said that the command may use airstrikes against rebels there.

Adeoye made a suggestion that the airstrikes would be utilised to drive away the militants terrorising the citizens of the state’s North and South Senatorial Districts.

The state command has reportedly taken control of five local government areas in Anambra state, restoring law and order there, according to the CP.

The CP said, “You will agree with me that up till now we have not used airstrikes, Why? Because we are concerned about the safety of the people there. We don’t want collateral damage. But if their existence will make life meaningless to innocent people, then the federal government would have been pushed to the wall to go all out and take them out, in order to secure the people who have become canon-folder in their hands.

“95 per cent of their victims are their own relatives. The other five per cent are travellers, who due to a lack of knowledge of the area, run into them. Our advice is to use the expressway always.

“We are working to gradually reclaim all these areas that the insurgents have turned into their hideouts, because of natural forests, harsh topography, difficult terrains, and others. They take refuge in that place and launch attacks from there, but now it is very difficult for them to launch such attacks and come out alive.

“What almost engulfed the whole state is insurgency, and you know this is like guerilla warfare. When you fight guerilla warfare, you must be deliberate and methodical because it is not a conventional war.

“You make progress slowly. You gain grounds, you secure it. You reclaim occupied territory secure it and then go further.

“Before now, all the seven local government areas that are in the Anambra South Zone were under the control of the insurgents. But now other parts of the state are safe except Nnewi South and a few areas in Ihiala.

“So out of seven local government areas, we have reclaimed five, and we are working on liberating the remaining two. Incidentally, those two have links with Imo. It got so bad that even their traditional rulers fled the communities.

“Those areas you mentioned as ‘no-go-areas’, we have Forward Operating Bases (FOB) there. We have in Osumoghu, Ukpor, and Uli, and those are aimed at ensuring we stem encroachment from Imo. These measures have been effective and that is why the rest of the state has been safe, because the routes through which they come have been stopped. Our police special forces are there, the army is there, the police are there, anti-terrorist unit is also there.

“Attacks have been checked to a reasonable extent. They plant landmines around those camps and also use rocket-propelled grenade launchers. These are war materials and we are not at war. The federal government has exercised a lot of restraint in dealing with the problem, and I will advise the insurgents not to push their luck so far because patience has a limit.”

NAF Airstrike Reportedly Kill Pregnant Woman And Two Teenagers In Kaduna

At Sabon Gida hamlet in Fatika District in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, two teens and a pregnant mother were reportedly murdered by airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force.

The event occurred on Sunday, March 5, 2023, about 5 o’clock, when the fighter jet is reported to have targeted several robbers in a nearby bush who had fled into the settlement.
According to information obtained, the dead belonged to the same family, and roughly five other people also suffered injuries.

Hamisu Kurau, a prominent member of the community, telephoned Daily Trust to corroborate the occurrence.

“It was learnt the jet was after two bandits who fled into the village. It was said to have missed the target, and killed the pregnant woman identified as Furaira and two teenagers in the house,” he said.

He said the late woman’s husband, Bala, and the father of the two children, Muntari, are brothers.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command, DSP Mohammed Jalige, declined to comment on the incident.
