The Labour Party has alleged that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and other members of the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum bought the endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, a dissident group of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the country’s northern region led by Dogara announced on Friday their support for the former vice president as their chosen presidential candidate for the upcoming February elections.
Following the selection of a vice presidential candidate, Dogara and several Northern Christians had clashed with the ruling party.

Northern Christians and several Muslim brothers had protested the party’s decision to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 election.
In response to the endorsement, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the Labour Party Presidential Campaign spokesperson, declared that northerners, particularly Christians, had already chosen Peter Obi as their preferred candidate.
He asked Dogara and other members of the group that backed Atiku to assess the opinion of ordinary Northerners, emphasizing that the former Anambra State governor had received the support of the majority of the people.
He said, “I make bold to say that the population in the north, particularly the Christians have unequivocally made their endorsement, and they said they will be voting for Peter Obi, not the purchased endorsement that the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum has just granted.”
