The Edo State Government has established free watching centres throughout the Benin city as Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in today’s semi-final match of the ongoing African Cup of Nations, or AFCON.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Chris Nehikhare, the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, revealed this to reporters and stated that the purpose of the centres is to allow locals to watch the match live. According to Nehikhare, the locations of the centres are carefully planned and sufficiently guarded to ensure the security and well-being of both viewers and locals. He claims that the viewing areas are situated at Oliha’s Main Gate, beside the Garick Memorial School fence, by Nadia Bakery, in New Benin by the Total fuel filling station, and at Ekehuan Campus Gate by Garick Memorial School fence, Oliha Market, on top of the red commercial decking building by the traffic light, and Ramat Park at Ikpoba Hill, all in Benin City.
