Davido, who has won several awards, has stated that his rich family background prevents him from being considered a successful artist.
The DMW president said this during an interview on the “IONWANNATALK” podcast, where he admitted that he lacked the “grass to grace” tale, which is a key condition for Nigerian acceptance.
Despite his significance on the African/global music industry, he claims that this makes it difficult for him to be acknowledged.

The father of three has also said that there is jealousy in the sector, which is why he has worked considerably harder than the average person.
“Not to sound arrogant, but when is the industry going to see another Davido?” he asks.

“I can tell you that I’ve suffered more than a lot of people that don’t have money. And I’ve been able to build what I built. It’s not going to happen in a long time.
“I don’t have the grass to grace story. And for Nigerians to accept you without that is usually very hard.
“That’s why I’m asking you because I know…..I don’t think there’s anything the industry needs because it’s always going to be the same thing. There’s always going to be envy”
