According to Anaedoonline.ng, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended Dumebi Kachikwu as its presidential candidate.
In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, the party indicated that the presidential candidate had been suspended due to severe misconduct and violations of the party constitution, including publications and statements that may be construed as disparaging the ADC national officers.
According to the statement, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had decided to disregard Kachikwu’s prior infractions in order for peace to reign, but it could not turn a blind eye to his most recent indiscretions, including the misguided and defamatory video that is currently making the rounds online.

In the statement, Dr. Bamidele Ajadi, the Deputy National Chairman (Politics) of the ADC, emphasized that the decision was made against Kachikwu during an urgent NWC meeting on Friday, September 2, 2022.
Kachikwu’s behaviour, according to the party, “smacks of crass irresponsibility, severe indiscipline, dishonest scandalization and blackmail and is absolutely unsuitable of someone who wants to be President of Nigeria,” he claimed.
The NWC, according to Ajadi, watched the false and defamatory film created, released, and distributed by Kachikwu with great concern because it was meant to impugn the integrity and reputation of a peaceful and transformation-focused ADC and its national executives.
He noted unequivocally in the statement that both the specific clause of Article 16 of the ADC Constitution and the presidential candidate’s statements in the aforementioned video were in violation.
UPDATE: Moghalu Resigns From ADC After Losing Presidential Ticket
Quoting the party’s constitution, Ajadi said: “Act(s) conduct or utterances likely to bring the party into hatred, contempt or ridicule; engaging in dishonest practices, defrauding the party, its members or officials; engaging in anti-party activities; unauthorized publicity of Party dispute or fractionalization or creating parallel Party organ(s) at any level; engaging in any other activities likely to cause disaffection among Party members or likely to disrupt the peaceful, lawful and efficient conduct of party business; belonging to any such factional group or organ; collusion or conspiracy to convene unauthorized meetings, shall constitute acts of gross misconduct.”
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the party’s stakeholders strongly felt that Kachikwu’s behavior denigrated the founders and financial backers of ADC, who had worked assiduously to create an outstanding reputation that Nigerians were proud of and which many luminaries had run for office under.
The statement added: “The NWC also noted that since the 9th of June 2022 when he was elected the presidential candidate, he has failed, neglected and/or refused to share with the party, any meaningful, constructive or reasonable Presidential Campaign Roadmap for the forthcoming presidential election.

“His negative actions and/or inactions so far, have put in jeopardy the fate and prospects of all our candidates contesting for various offices across the country. The committee of the whole house, in a very clear and unequivocal term, condemned the said video in its entirety and described it as a piece of badly crafted blackmail and mudslinging, and thereby unanimously recommended his immediate suspension from the party from today, Friday 2nd September 2022.
“This resolution would be forwarded to the National Executive Council for further actions.”
