Usman Alkali Baba, the IGP, stated on Monday that some political elites and other unpatriotic people are attempting to thwart a civilian-to-civilian transfer of power on May 29, 2023.
He claims that some politicians who did not support the results of the elections in 2023 are attempting to thwart the transfer of power to President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by making threats in front of the people.
However, the IGP issued a warning that the Police and other security organizations would not permit anything to derail the handover program because May 29 is sacred and democracy will be upheld.

“Following the successful conclusion of the 2023 General Elections, it has been observed that some major political actors, who the outcome did not favor, have been issuing public threats that are directed at instigating actions to frustrate the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony on May 29, 2023,” IGP Baba said in a statement to reporters in Abuja.
“The Nigeria Police and the national intelligence community have been closely monitoring the activities of these political elites as well as other elements who have formed themselves into unpatriotic brands whose only fantasy, in recent times, is to subvert our national security interests.
