Mr Sule Mathew, a first-class graduate, was purportedly slain by unknown gunmen in Anambra.
Mathew, who majored in Information and Media Studies at Bayero University Kano’s Faculty of Communication, just graduated with honors.
He was slain along with several passengers he was traveling with in Ekwulobia, Anambra, according to PR Nigeria, a news outlet where he had interned.

Mathew had intended to join the required youth service corps before his death, according to a fellow ex-intern at PR Nigeria, Silas Manager.
“In 2019, Matthew was one of the first students to intern with PRNigeria Centre in Kano. He lost his father in June, only a few months before his final test, and graduated as our Department’s overall top student in August 2021, with plans to register in the necessary NYSC program the following week,” Salis added.
“He was on a six-month non-residential fellowship program that teaches and develops young citizen activists in the pursuit of democratic reforms — Gidan Yanci.”
Mr Gambo Ibrahim, a bosom friend, said he was on his way to Anambra from Abuja when the assailants assaulted their car.

“After kidnapping them, the gunmen opened fire on them, killing everyone save the driver, who managed to flee.”
So, when we couldn’t reach him and learned about the incident, we sent Sule’s photo to the mortuary to see whether he was among those slain, and we received word that he was,” she explained.
“Prior to this awful news, I tried phoning him but couldn’t get through, and then we got this sad news.”
Binta Musawa, Mr Sule’s classmate, expressed her surprise.
