The first Nnewi political summit which is allegedly organized by Nnewi professionals is trailed by many controversies.

The summit which is slated for Sunday 26th August 2018 at Anaedo Hall Nnewi is expected to host many Nnewi politicians and stakeholders.

In a recent press release by Nnewi professionals, the association dissociated itself from the planned summit. Part of the press release of the association reads “We have always treaded cautiously on political grounds to avoid misconceptions of personal political agenda and partisanship, and actually declined involvement in the said event when we understood that the sponsorship was by the same political office seekers meant to speak at the event.”

Also, the publicity secretary of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi Mr. Augustus Ike Edoji when consulted said that the President of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi Chief Ugochukwu Udemezu explicitly told the organisers that Nzuko-Ora Nnewi is not a party to the summit.

However, it has been alleged in some quarters that the summit which is being fronted by the Former chairman of Anambra State Medical Association (NMA) Dr. Obi Nwosu, is being funded by Dr. Uzor Nwosu an Aspirant for Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency and the family of Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi whose Son Dr. Obinna Ngonadi is an aspirant for Nnewi North State Consistency.

When contacted by our reporter, Dr. Obi Nwosu, the chairman of the organizing committee of the summit stated in clear terms that the summit is being convened by the Nnewi professionals and would hold.

From further investigations, it was discovered that the Nnewi Professionals as a group is alleged to have been factionalized, with a faction of the group supposedly organizing the summit, consisting of ordinary members while the other faction is said to have the backing of the executives.
However, the spokesman of the Nnewi Professionals, Mr Iranekwu, when contacted declined giving information as regards this development to our correspondent.
