It’s not often people had a twist in their daily plans and schedules but when such happens, there are always two results, those who welcome events with open arms, and others who outright reject it sticking to their laid plan of the day; after all what is it they say again: “the devil you know is better than the Angel you don’t know.”
Every day, the business life of the good motor parts merchants in Nnewi include just the regular buying and selling but, it was a different ball game when confusion struck the motor spare parts as an unknown man who claimed to be a God sent Prophet to his people to liberate them from their problems on earth. The self-proclaimed prophet of God claimed to have been an apprentice under the Blessed Tansi, died and rose from the dead after 3months.
The passage of the bible which said “my people suffer from lack of knowledge” came into play full time, before you could say ‘jack Robinson’ people were already running towards the so-called prophet paying huge sums of money in order to receive their “customized” prophecies and most of them being women both young and old. A market is a market, a place where wares are sold, it doesn’t matter what one is selling. The prophet brought out his own goods and began to render services to his abrupt congregation who wasted no time in buying his holy (sachet) water and a red liquid he said was anointing oil.
Our correspondent got a few people’s attention and asked them questions. One of the men around said he doesn’t believe in what the man had said or whatever he’s doing. Another woman said after purchasing from the man that she did the right thing. Another said opportunity comes but once so she does not regret believing the prophet or purchasing his ‘holy’ items. After he left, some who patronized him were mocked by their fellow marketers for cheaply buying into a stranger in the name of prophecy.
It is believed that Jesus died and rose again after three days, today a man is claiming to have died and resurrected after three months, is this an irony or a coincidence?
