Ahead of its coming primaries to choose those who will contest elections under its platform in the next year general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has cleared about six Senate aspirants, 21 House of Representatives and 42 state House of Assembly aspirants in Anambra State.
The chairman of PDP in the state, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu told LEADERSHIP Friday exclusively yesterday in Awka, the state capital that while only one aspirant, vice chairman of the apex
Igbo socio cultural organisation, Chief Charles Odunukwe was the only aspirant cleared to the party’s ticket for Anambra Central senatorial district, three apirants, including incumbent senator representing the Anambra North senatorial district,
Senator Stella Oduah, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, and an Abuja based businessman, Chief Chizoba Nnalue were cleared to contest for the PDP ticket for the Anambra North senatorial district. He stated that although three aspirants including the former self acclaimed leader of the party in the state,
Chief Chris Uba, Dr Obinna Uzor and a former House of Representatives Member under the party’s platform, Hon. Chuma Nzeribe purchased the party’s form to seek its ticket for Anambra South senatorial district, only Obinna Uzor and Nzeribe appeared before the PDP Screening Committee in Awka, and were cleared while Uba shunned the committee.
Nwobu stated that when he did not see Uba on the day of the screening of the Senate aspirants, he contacted him on his mobile telephone, but, that he ( Uba), a member of the Board of Trustees ( BoT) of the PDP rather told him that he preferred to go to the PDP national headquarters, Abuja, to be screened.
