COACHES PLAN A 2-DAY BOXING COMPETITION IN ENUGU

Enugu State Boxing Coach, Blaise Ude, says the state will hold a two-day boxing competition for selection of boxers in preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival.

Speaking in Enugu on Monday, Ude said the competition was open to interested boxers.

He said: “We, the coaches, are planning a two-day competition and have set aside November 8 and November 9 for the competition.

“This competition will serve as trial for the boxers in the state and neighbouring states for the Abuja 2018 National Sports Festival.

“It is open to every boxer within and outside the state and through this, we will have our team for the NSF.

“This competition is for both boys and girls in different categories such as; Super Heavy, Heavy Weight, Light Heavy Weight, Middle Weight, Welter Weight etc.”

Ude said that through the competition, the coaches were going to discover talents for future competitions and select those who would represent the state at NSF and international competitions.

He called on the State Boxing Association to support the competition to ensure the boxers did well in Abuja, so that boxing will kept growing in the state.
