POLICE NAB MURDER SUSPECT IN ONITSHA

A middle-aged man suspected to have killed one Peter Osakwe of No. 27B Enweonwu Street, Onitsha, Anambra State, has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Police attached to the Inland Town Police Station.

The suspect, whose full identity is yet to be made public by the police, was arrested in connection with death of the 22-year-old Peter Osakwe, whose lifeless body was found dangling in front of his apartment at No. 27B, Enweonwu Street, Onitsha, on Tuesday, October 30.

The arrest followed a report lodged by a resident of the area to the Inland Town Division that the lifeless body of a tenant named Peter Osakwe was found hanged at the main entrance to his room.

“Following the report, police detectives from the Inland Town Division visited the scene, photographed the victim, and took the body to General Hospital, Onitsha, and his corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue for postmortem examination”, a police source informed.

The source also informed Anaedooline that a medical examination was conducted on the deceased; adding that marks of violence were found on the deceased’s lower arms and pubic regions, hence, murder was suspected.

Contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the development and said investigations are ongoing.
