There was mild drama at Nnewi Triangle today, as conventional policemen at the Izuchukwu Junction, Nkwo Nnewi clashed with operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.
Anaedooline learnt that a SARS operative on mufti rode on a motorcycle across the Izuchukwu Junction axis, where the policemen positioned a checkpoint.
Meanwhile, unknown to the policemen that he was SARS operative, he was stopped and his motorcycle seized for not having plate number for his motorcycle.
The SARS operative explained himself to them, and begged that his motorcycle be released to him; but the policemen remained adamant on their refusal.
The SARS operative, according to eyewitnesses, left only to come back with a truck load of armed persons believed to be men of the SARS. As they arrived, they shot sporadically in the air; scarring everybody at the premises, who ran helter skelter for their dear lives.
It was gathered that later on, the two groups reached understanding and the motorcycle was released to the owner; but it was not clear what transpired between the two groups that led to the amicable resolution, and subsequent handover of the motorcycle to SARS.
