Emirates Airlines has announced that it will resume flight operations to Nigeria from October 1, 2024, after a two-year suspension. The announcement was made on the airline’s official X account on Thursday.

The flights will be operated using a Boeing 777-300ER. Flight EK783 will depart Dubai at 0945hrs and arrive in Lagos at 1520hrs. The return flight, EK784, will leave Lagos at 1730hrs and arrive in Dubai at 0510hrs the next day.

The airline expressed its excitement about resuming services to Nigeria, highlighting the significance of the Lagos-Dubai route for both leisure and business travelers. Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, thanked the Nigerian government for their support in re-establishing the route and emphasized the importance of reconnecting passengers to Dubai and the airline’s extensive network of over 140 destinations.

With the resumption of operations to Nigeria, Emirates will now operate to 19 gateways in Africa, offering 157 flights per week from Dubai. The airline also extends its reach to an additional 130 regional points in Africa through its codeshare and interline partnerships with airlines such as South African Airways, Airlink, Royal Air Maroc, and Tunis Air.

Kazim noted that Nigeria, particularly Lagos as its commercial hub, has strong economic ties with the UAE. The resumption of daily passenger flights will also enhance trade relations, with Emirates SkyCargo providing over 300 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity in and out of Lagos every week.
