AWCON 2018: FALCONS READY TO WRECK EQUATORIAL GUINEA

The Nigeria Women’s Senior National team, Super Falcons, are bidding to secure their semifinal spot as they face Equatorial Guinea in the last Group B game of the ongoing African Women Cup of Nations in Ghana.

The defending champions are second in the group with three points behind the Bayana Bayana of South Africa, who have six points, while Zambia is third also with three points.

Thomas Dennerby girls fell to a shocking 1-0 loss to the Bayana Bayana in their first group game but got their campaign back on track with a 4-0 thumping of Zambia on Wednesday.

They will be seeking to consolidate on that inspiring performance when they take on the Equatoguineans, who have already crashed out of the competition.

The eight-time AWCON winners are a side packed with international stars and the likes of Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Francesca Ordega, will prove why they are the best on the continent.

Oshoala is having a quiet tournament but the three-time African Women Footballer of The Year may activate her best form with the Equatorial Guinea match. She fluffed several chances in the victory over Zambia and her coach expressed unhappiness over the team’s profligacy.

Oparanozie was also guilty of missing scoring chances but Dennerby will still count on the two experienced forwards to put the Equatoguineans to the sword.

Rasheedat Ajibade is another brilliant forward that could destroy the youthful opponents and the Robo FC star will want to re-enact her last match’s excellent showing.

“Don’t think that this game we won today (Wednesday) is the final game in the group, now we have to work hard so we can get the qualification to the semifinal,” the coach warned his wards.
