WITHOUT ME, APGA WILL HAVE NO SENATORIAL CANDIDATE IN ANAMBRA SOUTH -Chidolue

Dr. Okey Chidolue, one of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, aspirants for the Anambra South senatorial election held on October 3, 2018, in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, has urged the party to do the needful by forwarding his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the authentic candidate of the party in Anambra South, or forget about having a senatorial candidate at the zone for the 2019 general election.

Chidolue, who spoke to our reporter on Sunday, December 16, at his country home in Nnewi, wondered where the person, who claimed victory at the election would have gotten his votes when authentic delegates to the primary election were disenfranchised.

According to him, “before and during the primary election, APGA refused to produce list of delegates for the exercise for aspirants to know who they were dealing with.

“When we went to court after the sordid exercise they called primaries, we persuaded APGA to tender the delegate list they used for the conduct of the election that gave victory to Ukachukwu, but they refused to do so.

“That was one of the evidences the learned Judge relied upon in giving his judgement. Besides, after the primaries on October 3, the party issued Certificate of Return immediately to Ukachukwu; without waiting for exhaustion of Appeals arising from the primary which was scheduled for October 5, before issuing the certificate. The Hon. Court also relied on this fact in giving its judgement; because, the court held that in doing so, the party had a predetermined candidate.”

Dr. Chidolue said that the irregularities noticed during the primary was so evident that he was tempted to approach the court to challenge the “impunity and injustice “.

He commended the FCT High Court under Justice Valentine Achi for a job well done; stating that “this is the first time party impunity is challenged successfully.”

He said though some people are trying to challenge the High Court judgement, he will remain hopeful that the Appeal Court will uphold the judgement of the High Court because, according to him, the evidence tendered in court was so heavy and glaring that APGA and Ukachukwu cannot not contest it.

Recall that FCT Federal High Court under Justice Valentine Achi, had on Thursday, December 13, nullified the Anambra South senatorial primary held on October 3, for alleged irregularities; while parties involved were directed to approach INEC to sort themselves out.
