BUHARI, APPOINTS NEW AST INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE

The Presidency has appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Abubakar Adamu Mohammed Lafia as the new Acting Inspector General of Police.

The appointment of the new AIG was announced last night following oppositions from some quarters against the possible tenure elongation for IG Idris. AIG Lafia was among the three names submitted to the president for the replacement of Idris.

Until his appointment, Inspector Adamu was serving at the national institute of Policy and Strategic Studies(NIPSS) and also former commissioner police in Enugu. The Nasarawa-born Police Chief has served with the United Nations and INTERPOL.
