Bet9ja Shops, Banned From Nkwo-Edo Market, Nnewi

It was a moment of mixed feelings yesterday at Nkwo-Edo market, Nkwo Nnewi, when the newly elected Chairman of the market, Mr. Dennis Ikegwuonu announced the closure of Bet9ja shops in the market just after his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, the 6th of May 2019.

According to Mr. Dennis, Bet9ja shops promote gambling and corrupt the apprentices known as umu-boy.

In his own words, he said, “from today, we don’t want any form of gambling in this market, whether Card games (WHOT), Board games (Draft), LUDO games, etc. We are here to do business and make money. On this note, the BET9JA shop that is within this market is mandated to park out of this market and look for another location outside this market. Gambling corrupts our apprentices (umu-boi) a lot and it’s not encouraging.”
