Oko Polytechnic Rector Has Given Corruption A Bloody Nose!

The students of Federal Polytechnic Oko have raised an alarm, alleging that there’s prevailing extortion by the staff and lecturers of the institution with regards to the enforcement of buying textbooks, price of textbooks and other forms of bribery acts. To the extent that some of the students took the complaints to social media and to NANS office.

Also, Students of the institution are also alleged to be involved in corrupt practices too, such as collecting money to “Sort” Courses from other students with the name of lecturers without the directive or consent of the said lecturer.

The students also are alleged to be in the habit of bribing or trying to bribe staff or lecturers in a bid to gain favour or to pass a particular course.

In reaction to these complains, the new rector of the Polytechnic , Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo raised a warning (through her speech) in the last matriculation ceremony of the institution saying that her administration will have zero tolerance for all forms of corrupt practices by both the staff and students of the polytechnic.

In addition to that, she has further sent a follow-up warning through a letter titled “A WARNING ON CORRUPT PRACTICES” dated 16th May, 2019 to all the academic and unit heads advising all to key into the vision, mission and integrity of the institution, and desist from all forms of corrupt practices or be made to face appropriate disciplinary action.
