Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, celebrates World Blood Donor Day, 2019 (photos)
Today, 14th June 2019 marks the celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2019 with the theme “Blood Donation and Universal Access to Safe Blood Transfusion” and with the slogan “Safe Blood For All”.
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi hosted the celebration at the Albert Uzodike Auditorium, within the hospital premises.

The event was chaired by Chief Ihekwabor Eric who thanked the NAUTH Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. A.O Igwegbe for approving the organization of this event.
NAUTH CMD emphasized on the creation of awareness for the safety of blood and blood donation.
Some challenges facing Hematology department was enumerated during the event which includes but not limited to under-staffing, no adequate space for Hematology department, lack of blood separation machine etc.

Some of dignitaries that graced the event include ;
-Dr. Okocha I.E, Chairman Blood Transfusion Committee
-Lady Onyegili Ada, Director of Nursing Services
-Mrs. Ada Nwosu, Technical head in Hematology department.
-Dr. Ifeoma Ajuba, Head of Hematology department.
-Prof. O.G Ibegbunam (Guest Lecturer), Consultant in Hematology department in UNTH and NAUTH
– Other dignitaries.
