Anambra State Government, Rescues Twenty- Six, Alms Seeking Children From Streets Of Nnewi
The Anambra State Government, through the ministry of women and children affairs, this afternoon, 25th June 2019, at Nnewi, rescued Twenty six, children from the custody of a begging syndicate who uses them to seek alms in the streets of Nnewi.
The operation which was led by the honorable commissioner for women and children affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue and her transport counterpart, Hon. Uchenna Okafor, Wiper, swooped on the syndicate comprising of Six adults who deploy under age children to seek alms along Nkwo Nnewi Triangle and other markets in the vicinity.
Speaking after the raid, the honorable commissioner for women affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, re-echoed Gov Willie Obiano’s readiness to sanitize the streets of Anambra State and rid it of miscreants, she further assured that, the children will be rehabilitated and assisted back to school as efforts will be intensified to re-unite them with their biological parents.
You will recall that the ministry of women affairs, a few weeks ago carried out the similar exercise which netted over one hundred lawbreakers and mentally challenged persons at Upper Iweka and Main Market Onitsha.
