Anambra Youth Leaders Visit NOCEN Provost, Pledges Collaboration
Anambra Youth Leaders have promised to partner with the management and staff of Nwafor-Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, to ensure the progress of the institution.
The group which was led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Entrepreneurship, Mobilization and Strategy, Hon. Prince Nnamsom Nwafor-Orizu, were at the school premises, yesterday, Wednesday, June 27th, 2019, to meet and discuss with the management of the college on possible areas of partnership which will be beneficial to the college.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Prince Nnamsom Nwafor-Orizu, praised the provost of the college, Dr. Ify Osegbo, on the various achievements she has recorded, which have attracted government presence and also public-spirited individuals.
He also commended the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, on the giant steps he has taken to upgrade the infrastructure of the school, to ensure a conductive environment for the students of the institutions.
Prince Orizu in a special way applauded the governor for appointing an illustrious son of Nnewi, Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto as the Chairman Governing Council of the institution.
Prince Nwafor-Orizu also thanked Prince Arthur Eze for his generosity by donating a huge sum of money to compliment the effort of the government in developing the college.
The Prince of Nnewi however promised to mobilize the family, friends and other beneficiaries of the His Excellency, Dr. Akweke Nwafor-Orizu,GCON who the institution was named after, to contribute their own quota towards the development of the college, he also assured the provost, that his group will facilitate the establishment of an Entrepreneurship center through the State Governor and also urged the Member Representing Anambra East and West in the Federal House of Representative, Chief Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe to facilitate the upgrading of the Education College into a Federal University College of Education.
Receiving the group, the Provost of Nwafor-Orizu College of Education, Dr. Ify Osegbo, thanked the group for the visit and promised to partner with them towards ensuring the progress of the institution.
On the plans and challenges of the college, the Provost appreciated the attention the college has received from the government of His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, especially in terms of financial support for the infrastructural development, accreditation of courses and others needs of the institutions. He also commended the contribution of the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College, Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto, for his commitment towards the development of the College.
Appreciating the visit, Dr. Ify Osegbo, appreciated the efforts of Nwafor Orizu family towards the development of the school and urged them to do more, especially in supporting the upcoming Nwafor-Orizu Memorial Lecture which has been scheduled for July and also towards the construction of Nwafor Orizu Museum.
She finally called for more partnership between the group and the college to confront some of the challenges of the institutions.
