Young Philanthropist Who Fed 600 Beggars in Anambra, To Visit Leprosy Home(Photos)

As part of her Foundation quest to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged and the isolated in the society, one of Nigeria’s Youngest Philanthropist, Miss Ejike Favour, has unveiled her plans to visit lepers in Anambra, Enugu and other Southeastern States.

The Leprosy Settlement Scheme Outreach which is part of her Foundation programs has been slated for 14th July, 2019.

Speaking about her plans, Favour disclosed that the leprosy outreach was promoted by the observation she made during her Foundation’s last major outreach.

“During our last major outreach in which we fed over Five Hundred (500) beggars in the streets of Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, we observed that leprosy patients constitutes part of the street beggars in Anambra State”

“Even before the outreach, during our sensitization visit of our Foundation on 16th of November 2018 along “Eke Awka Market” and “Awka/Onitsha Road” in Anambra State, during our interaction with some of the beggars, they referred us to a center called “Oji River Leprosy Center” as their place of abode and dominance.”

Speaking further, the young Favour, who also an undergraduate of Law in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University, Igbariam, bemoaned the neglect lepers in the Southeastern part of Nigeria are suffering.

“Beyond the physical effects of leprosy, the injustice meted on them by separating them from society and excluding them from full participation in all ways of life, has caused many affected by leprosy to feel dejected and worthless”

On the plans she has for the lepers, she said,

“Through Favour Sams Foundation, we plan to address the loss of dignity that many people affected by leprosy and their families have experienced. We seek to show them compassionate love both in words and deeds”

“The outreach scheduled for Sunday, 14th July, 2019, tends to extend pep talks in regards to the challenging health condition of lepers, our foundation will champion and support the prevention and treatment of leprosy and social inclusion of people affected by leprosy”

She however, appealed for the support of public spirited individuals, corporate organizations and institutions, which is vital for success of the outreach.

It will be recalled that last year, Ejike Favour through her Foundation fed over Six Hundred (600) beggars in the streets of Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, during her “Operation Feed The Beggars” outreach program.
