Nnewi: Agbo Edo Market Appeals to Govt, for Fire Fighting Equipments, Street Lights, Water and Subvention (Photos)

Traders of Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Dealers, Nnewi, have appealed to Anambra state government to equip the market with fire fighting equipments, street lights and also to provide subvention for the Market.

The Traders who spoke through the General Secretary of Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association (AMPSDA) Nnewi, Mr. Nwoke Patrick said that the market is besieged with so many challenges as the need for fire fighting equipments, street lights and subvention are of urgent need.

He called on the Anambra State Government to provide street lights in the market which was part of operation light up Anambra introduced by Dr. Willie Obiano’s administration to ward off criminals and enhance security architecture.

Making other demands, he said, “Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Market as a major player and contributor to the growth of the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), is bereft of funds and we appeal to the government for annual subvention.”

He also requested for the resuscitation of the dilapidated water scheme alongside water reticulation within the market and appointment of traders in the government.

Emphasising on the need for fire-fighting equipments, the Assistant Secretary of the market, Mr. Ejike Ndubusi, said that since taxes paid by traders in the market is the largest revenue base of Anambra State, government should provide equipments to secure the markets.

He urged the government and relevant agencies to ensure the installation of fire-fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire suppression and fire service facility in the market to contain cases of fire incidences.
