When They Tell You That Igbo Men In USA Murder Their Wives, Show Them This!
Some Igbo ladies took to the Micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to insinuate that Igbo men in the United States of America return back to their villages to marry women that they can intimidate, only to kill them when they decide to rebel.
Dr Mcginger Ibeneme, in reaction to the above assertion, took to his twitter to page refute the above assertion with some series of tweets.

After the war, Igbo communities began to rebuild. Many Igbo graduates and undergraduates from the University of Nigeria and others died in the war. They were the first set of volunteers.
By 1970, the homeland was in ruins, the rampaging Nigeria military destroyed most houses and schools and farms and everything in sight. Their intention was total eradication of our race, we came home broken and forlorn. Along the street even after the war had ended, they had checkpoints. The checkpoint you see everywhere today in Igbo land was how it was those days.
A random soldier would slap you in the street, ask you to frog jump or cut grasses for nothing. Igbo men were shamed and humiliated, No Igbo was left in the army and police. We had northerners running our homeland and it was a servant-master relationship.
We bore all these in good faith. We began to brainstorm on way forward. We began to form groups to rebuild the houses, the schools, the churches, the markets etc. All these we did without any government support, We were taunted and shamed. They called us nyamjri. By 1971, we had started moving to the cities in droves.

Before the war, all universities were headed by Igbos. The railway was controlled by the Igbos. The Lagos federal civil service was dominated by Igbos. At the end of the war, we lost everything. During the war that we were forced home, the quotered intellectualism appointed professors arbitrarily to replace the displaced Igbo intellectual that left. The postgraduate colleges, especially medical were hijacked.
Igbos began to move abroad to seek opportunities. The initial opportunity to travel abroad was through pen pals and scholarship. Many of our young men began to move to the USA, Europe and Asia. Typical of Igbos, we formed Igbo unions anywhere we gathered and shared opportunities with others. At this time, not many women were back in school especially higher education.
Igbo being very ethnic, our mothers used to hammer it into us to “come home and marry one of your kind “. Coming home to marry was in obedience to our mothers – Igbo women! If you wanted to break your mother’s heart (and no Igbo man ever wanted that) marry oyibo wife. Some mothers died of heartbreak.
It is a pure lie that we marry for slavery or bullshit control. Igbo man is too proud to rely on money made by a woman. There were simply not enough graduates then. The proof is simple, how many of our mothers and grandmothers are graduates? As things improved, women returned to school.
Most marriages were transactional. The Igbo woman that married abroad husband wants a better life. The Igbo man that married a smart woman, wants compliment. Abroad is tough enough and no one wants a liability. So when your wife arrives, as a family, you begin to plan what you’d do to make life better for your offspring(s).
The women went to medical school and nursing school to get better opportunities for their offsprings. People make it seem like every Igbo woman in America is a doctor or nurse while the men are liabilities. White lies!
In Texas, Igbo men are arguably the most educated race. Around USA, most Igbo intellectuals are male, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists etc. Igbo men are never lazy.
Also just make a small enquiry about the belief that we go to village to pick a wife, the truth is that in the last 10 years, most girls married abroad by Igbo men are already graduates. Trained by Igbo men in Nigeria and married to Igbo men abroad. Nursing or whatever is mostly another degree!
They lie to curry sympathy. These girls are brought over with the guise that they are going for masters, paid for by Igbo men. Igbo men help them regularize their documents and they turn to feminists. Most simply want to continue the wayward life they lived.
An opportunity has come and they have no qualms. They ditch the guys, Some men are destroyed completely. The unstable ones resort to alcoholism and violence. The Igbo community abroad have a support system for this situation especially when spousal murder surged.
Igbo men never ever supported spousal violence. When families break down like this, what we do is to provide support. We take the man and provide him with emotional and moral support. There are a few casualties. It is not every one of these broken marriages that result to violence or murder. Few slip through and we work to stop it. There are many beautiful Igbo families abroad. In truth, most live happily. Don’t you see the videos during events? Have you attended Igbo parties or weddings in America? Beautiful community!
The gang that dupe men are known by the community. Igbo women avoid them and they have surveillance to warn men to avoid. And now we have 2nd and 3rd generation of Igbos abroad, they have started marrying themselves. In fact, they have also started exporting Igbo girls to Nigeria to marry the men and take them abroad. The balance is almost there now.

The people who work to destroy what we are building are from hell. They commit evil and form gangs to propagate lies to continue their fraud. The reality is that we have almost come full cycle. We know all of you and we are beginning to isolate you, Igbo communities also isolate men who are irresponsible. Men and women would avoid such men, Drunks, Junkies, Bandits, etc .
USA has a way of calming your nerves, Most people are conservatives. If you come close to most guys from USA, you’d notice they’re more reserved, they spend money more courteously than the Asian and European returnees. Most are legit!
We are totally against any form of violence against anybody especially our women. We continue to ask the affected men to reach out. You can always start afresh. Don’t kill her. Start afresh. The best revenge is to let her live and see what you could do. Don’t hurt anyone, please. Think about your family back home. Your kids. Your loved ones. Guys, Imagine you end up in jail because of a Woman? Move on!
My job is simply to provide an alternative narrative. You don’t have to believe me. Most guys affected are often too embarrassed to say their stories. Nigerians are good at mob effect. And many people want to sound woke and correct. This is my own story and I know it to be true.
