Nnewi Community Calls For Immediate Removal Of EEDC Manager

Through her Electricity Committee, Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, the town union government of Nnewi, has called for the immediate removal of the Manager, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) Nnewi District.

Mr. Emmanuel Udochukwu, who is the Manager Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) Nnewi District, has recently come under public criticism following an allegation of his corrupt practices in the distribution of prepaid meter and unjustified estimated billing in Nnewi.

Petition Against Emmanuel Udochukwu Manager EEDC Nnewi District.

Demand For His Immediate Removal

We the undersigned for ourselves and as representing the members of the Electricity Committee set up by the Nzuko-Ora Nnewi (Nnewi Town Union) and closed with the responsibilities of facilitating electricity supply to Nnewi, and monitoring compliance, checking abuses and providing needed and requite support to the distribution company wish to bring to your attention certain misdeeds of Mr. Emmanuel Udochukwu.

In the course of performance of our lawful duties, we observed certain abuses by EEDC Nnewi District. The abuses include giving of unjustified estimated bills, indiscriminate and mass discrimination of electricity supply to homes without adequate notice and persistent refusal to install meters and demand of exorbitant fees ranging between #60,000 and #100,000.00 for single-phase meters from consumers as meter fee contrary to regulations. Instead of listening to us and having meaningful dialogue, the manager Emmanuel Udochukwu started insulting us. He threatened us in no unmistakable words and ended up telling us off. He accused us of meddling into his affairs and that we should be careful.

We feel that if Mr. Emmanuel Udochukwu continued to stay in Nnewi that the situation will instead of improving get worse. In the circumstances, we may not be able to contain the breeding anger against him and your company and desire to resort to self-help by some of our people.

May we, therefore, pray you to remove him from Nnewi and transfer him to any other place, so that he does not throw the town and your company into avoidable collision.

Take notice that if he is not removed as demanded, will no longer guarantee his stay in Nnewi and the operation of your company.
