Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) Registers/Captures Aguata judiciary workers in Aguata LG headquarters Secretariat.

The Anambra State Health Insurance electronic data capturing which commenced on Wednesday, the 24th of July was for all workers in the state judiciary in Aguata division.

Mr. Marcus Aniedobe, the Business development and marketing Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, who spoke exclusively to anaedoonline.ng explained that the agency offers affordable, quality and equitably distributed healthcare services.

In his own words, “The Anambra State Government has continued to prioritize the welfare of Ndi Anambra by offering them affordable health service. The Health Insurance Agency was established through Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme Law 2016, with a mandate of giving every citizen access to quality healthcare at reduced cost and cover all residents of Anambra State.”

He stated that the process of registration and capturing of civil servants has been carried out in other Anambra State ministries, commission, and sectors. He also announced that the insurance policy is not just for civil servants in the state but inclusive of all residents in Anambra State at a premium cost of twelve thousand naira (12,000) only per year with a maximum of four (4) children.

One of the civil servants who came for the capturing spoke to Anaedoonline.com in anonymity, saying she is not happy with the way the insurance scheme and new policies are being imposed on them.

In her words, “most of us are not in support of the scheme, we weren’t consulted or notified. We just got the news that we must register for the scheme, I hardly fall sick nor visit the hospital, so why would the government deduct N1000 monthly from my salary for the health insurance that I do not even want.”

Another participant also spoke to anaedoonline.ng saying, “whether you register or not, they will be deducting the premium from your salary, so I have to come and enroll”.
However, a few other participants were of the opinion that the scheme is a welcome development.

Mrs. Chijioke Okeke said she registered and added three of her children since the scheme allows for children to be joined with their parents in the Registration.

Speaking, she said, “I enrolled three of my kids for the insurance scheme, my health insurance cover a maximum of four (4) children, just in case of emergency, to reduce medical treatment cost and as benefit from the Anambra State Government.”
