Modern Day Slavery? Neighbours Rescue ”Slave Boy” Who Was Locked-Up In A Locker, At Nnewi

The World was shocked to their bone marrows when they learnt about the modern-day slavery that was going on in Libya, the inhumane condition of the ”slaves” caused the world to shudder in disgust.

Sadly, Closer to Home, modern slavery still exists;

Mrs Obiageli Akubuo, from Ndi-ojukwu, in Uruagu Nnewi was arrested for locking-up a boy she allegedly bought, inside the locker for three days without food or water.

According to a reliable source, Mrs Obiageli bought the boy, Chideraa from a woman, when he (Chideraa) was 7 years.

”The Woman she bought Chideraa from posed as Chideraa’s mum to all of us, it was only Obiageli that was aware of the fact that the woman is actually not Chideraa’s mum. The sad thing is that Obiageli has been maltreating Chideraa since she bought him” she added.

Mrs Obiageli, who is a mother of one; a boy, locked-up Chideraa inside a locker for three days without food or water after she accused him of stealing N200 belonging to her, which he bought Okpa with.

It took the intervention of three of her male neighbours who broke the locker, to rescue Chideraa.

He was reportedly in a very bad condition when he was found,and had to be rushed to Akwu-Udo hospital for immediate medical attention, while Obiageli and the woman who sold Chideraa to her were arrested by the police. Obiageli, however, was later released.

Chideraa says that if he gets to a place known as Obi in Nsukka, he can find his way home.
