Imo: Lawmaker Representing Nwangele Booed For Claiming Project Built By An NGO.

The Lawmaker representing Nwangele state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu has been berated by a non-governmental organization (NGO) to stop claiming ownership of a three-bedroom bungalow to an indigent woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Ukaona in his LGA.

The warning came following publications allegedly sponsored by the lawmaker claiming to have singlehandedly built the house as part of his campaign promises to alleviate sufferings in the area.

Reacting to the publication, Director General of “Nma Millionaire Heart Foundation”, Miss Afulezi Favour Chidinma expressed bitterness that a bungalow that was built through collective efforts of well-spirited individuals was been claimed by a man who calls himself a “honorable”.

According to her, the actions of Hon Iwuanyanwu were not only laughable and ridiculous but fell short of people’s expectations from a man who should have been seen as truly an honorable member, warning him and his agents to retract their earlier misleading stories that he built the said house.

She said’ “a few weeks ago, my attention was drawn to the pitiable condition of an indigent woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Ukaona and her family, when I visited her home in Umuobinelu Abaja in Nwangele LGA with my team, their house was quite irritating. As a foundation whose primary objective is to touch lives, instantly, we took pictures of the dilapidated mud house and published on our website, calling on well-meaning individuals to assist in order to build a new house for the woman”

She added that “while well-spirited individuals paid money via our foundation bank account, Hon Iwuanyanwu called us and requested our account as well. He initially paid N100, 000 and later N200, 000 totaling N300, 000. But I became embarrassed and surprise when I started seeing newspaper and social media publication that Hon Iwuanyanwu singlehandedly built the bungalow for the woman. This is not only fraudulent of a man who should have served as a role model in his capacity as an Honourable member but a height of political rascality on his part. Before now, our NGO had built five bungalows to indigent women across the state”. She submitted.

Adding further, she maintained that since the alleged misleading stories went viral, those well-meaning individuals who contributed for the building of the house had continued to express displeasure that we allegedly defrauded them while hiding under the cloak of building houses for the indigent women, stressing that the idea of requesting money them was wrong since a lawmaker representing the constituency was building the house alone.

She, therefore, wondered how the N300, 000 donated by Hon Iwuanyanwu could have completed a three-bedroom bungalow and warned him to desist from using collective efforts of well spirited individuals for politics with a view to deceive the public.

Meanwhile, all efforts to speak with the lawmaker proved abortive, but the earlier message sent to him for his reaction was ignored at the time of filing this report.
