Ahead of its cinema opening, a producer of one of 2019’s most anticipated movies, ‘Living in Bondage: Breaking Free’, treated guests and the media to an exclusive screening of the film.
A sequel to the 1992 classic, Living in Bondage, the screening took place on Wednesday, October 30 at Filmhouse Oniru, Twin Waters Entertainment Centre, Lekki.
Speaking with Snapshots after the screening, star actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, who plays the now-reformed ritualist, Andy Okeke said he is filled with a sense of fulfillment seeing the 27 years old blockbuster come to life again.
“It makes me feel fulfilled. It makes me feel that what I took a decision to enter 27 years ago, that I was really inspired to take that decision. Because nobody gave us the chance that it was going to be like this.
27 years after, the first movie has sustained the tempo, the crescendo to the point that modern-day people, with all they’ve watched, started yearning for it, leading to the sequel. I feel much fulfilled and I thank God for this,” he said.

On the differences between the original and the sequel, Okonkwo said that there is a wide technological berth between them, in terms of artistry; they are almost the same thing.
He further revealed that when the producers came up with the sequel, the script took about three years to write. “So you can imagine. They were writing and rewriting and I was there from the beginning.
It was remodified and changed until they came up with a fantastic script. These guys are brilliant. After the three years, when the script came up to the perfect standard, everybody approved it. That was when I knew that we were in for something good,” he said.
Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, follows the life of Nnamdi, Andy Okeke’s unknown son. A regular boy in the hood, Nnamdi quit his job to pursue big dreams but is caught up in the usual trappings of the good life.
Will he do something different, or will he act out the same playbook his father did and damn the consequences?
The sequel is directed by Ramsey Nouah; a first-time director. Living in Bondage boasts of a host of veterans and young actors including Kenneth Okonkwo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Ramsey Nouah, Nancy Isime, Enyinna Nwigwe, Munachi Abii and many more.
