JUST IN: See Conditions Set By FG For Reopening Of Borders

Foreign Affairs Minister. Geoffrey Onyeama

The federal government has given conditions for the reopening of land borders.

We recall that President Buhari approved the extension of border closure, while the land borders are expected to be re-opened on January 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has given a fresh condition for the reopening of land borders, insisting that ECOWAS countries must respect rules of origin, vowing it will no longer tolerate repackaging of imported goods.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Godfrey Onyema stated these on Monday at the end of a committee meeting.

It declared that goods coming into the country from ECOWAS states must have 30% local inputs.

The federal government maintained that goods imported for the Nigeria market must be escorted directly from the port of member states directly to the borders.
