Super Eagles Holds First Training in Uyo

Super Eagles of Nigeria have kicked off their training ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations championship on Wednesday, November 13, when they tackle Benin Republic in Uyo.

The three time AFCON champions opened camp earlier this week and had their first training session ahead of the game.

Coach Gernot Rohr’s men will hope they can win the match to get their chances started on a winning note.

The camp of the national team came alive with early arrivals like team captain Ahmed Musa, Everton’s Alex Iwobi, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi among others.

Leganes duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Kalu and Daniel Akpeyi also partook in the first training.

It would be recalled that the west African team finished third at the 2019 edition of the championship staged in Egypt after beating Tunisia 1-0 courtesy of Odion Ighalo’s goal.

Rohr’s men will also face Lesotho in their second Group L encounter away from home on Sunday, November 17.

While Sierra Leone is the fourth country in the group as the race to qualify for the 2021 edition of the tourney gets underway.
