Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State have been charged to embark on capital projects that would continue to exist even after they leave office.
Newly sworn-in Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr. Peter Okonkwo, gave the advice when the chairmen visited him in his office.
According to him, the ministry was poised to re-focus the primary assignment of the local council administration in the state to make it formidable and impactful on the lives of rural dwellers.
”This ministry is focused on making sure that every council area in the state actualized concrete development projects that would stand the test of time” he said.

Continuing, he said “Our principal agenda is to create a stronger synergy so that there will be a more effective relationship between the state and the local governments”.
He maintained that the ministry will engage the chairmen in partnership arrangement as the focal point of this administration is grassroots development.
”The state government will leverage on its firm commitment to the provision of infrastructure in the rural communities as well as general well-being of the dwellers to create synergy and ensure that the activities of the local governments are re-positioned for utmost positive impact on the people” he said.
