The Executive Chairman, Enugu South Local Government, Sunday Ugwu has said that the direct Payment of Federal Allocation to Local Government has brought about the delivery of good governance to the people at the grassroots level.
Ugwu made this known while playing host to a Coalition of Civil Society Organizations,( CSOs), the Nigerian Labour Congress and the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ) who visited the council on a good governance tour.
According to him, receiving the allocation directly has given him free hand to undertake various infrastructural development projects and youth empowerment at their various council areas.

“The council under my watch has made judicious use of the allocation from the FG as well as other Internally Generated Revenue in terms of giving those at the grass roots level a sense of belonging” he said.
The LG boss also noted that LGs in the state were already enjoying financial autonomy even before the FG introduced the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU by the Federal Government which grants Financial Autonomy to LG.

He thanked the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who according to him, has been undeterred in his support aimed at giving those at the grass roots level a sense of belonging.
