No Govt. Task Force On Enforcement Of Fire Extinguisher In Nnewi – Anambra Commissioner.

Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, has described as illegal the alleged government task force enforcing the use of Fire Extinguisher in Nnewi.

It will be recalled that for some weeks now, a team of men and women claiming to be a task force of the state government have been going around various commercial stores in Nnewi, claiming that their responsibility is to enforce the use of Fire Extinguisher in all retail shop in Nnewi.

According to reports, on the event they get to a retail store and find no Fire Extinguisher, the trader is expected to pay as high as Five Thousand Naira (#5000) as fine.

Reacting to the development in a Radio Programme monitored by Anaedoonline, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in Anambra State, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, said that the task force is not a creation of the state government and therefore has not approval to operate.

According to him, he is not aware of the operation of the Task Force, urging Nnewi residents and traders to resist the task force and call the attention of the Police because their activities is illegal.

He promised to call the attention of the security agencies in state, to arrest those involved.
