The Federal Road Safety Commission has decorated 14 officers who were promoted to new ranks.
The ceremony which was held at Igboukwu unit command Aguata local government area, yesterday, had friends and family members of the newly promoted officers and men of the corps in attendance.
Speaking on the occasion, Anambra sector commander of the corps, Mr. Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi, told the newly promoted officers that they should see their new positions as an added responsibility to help realise the mandate of the corps as it concerns the reduction of road traffic crashes to the barest minimum in Anambra state.
Kumapayi who recalled how he joined the Federal Road Safety Commission as a serving corps member in 1988 and thereafter rose through the ranks to become a sector commander, urged them to be humble, tolerant as well as apply friendly disposition in their official assignments and in their interpersonal interactions with their colleagues in the command.

The sector commander described the promotion ceremony as wonderful and also appreciated the board and management of the Federal Road Safety Commission for deeming it necessary to ratify the promotion of the decorated staff.
He said the officers merited the promotions because one must go through rigorous processes to earn himself recognition, stressing that errant behaviour and indiscipline in the line of duty could militate against one’s promotion and upgrade.
Kumapayi however advised the newly promoted officers to see their new positions as a clarion call for renewed vigor, dedication to duty, proactiveness and civil dispositions in their respective areas of operations and interactions.
The unit commander of Igboukwu unit command, Mr. Anderson Aya Ogarekpe, thanked the sector commander for decorating the newly promoted officers of the command and assured all and sundry that the commission would meet the expectations of the people within the scope of its operations .
One of the newly promoted officers serving in Igboukwu command, RC C.O Obiora, said the promotion would serve as a morale booster as well as an added impetus to enable them to perform optimally.

Obiora emphasized that they would abide by the rules and regulations of the corps especially as it concerns their conduct in their offices and assignments.
Also in another development, the Federal Road Safety Commission reported a multiple accident that occurred in front of the government house Awka involving three vehicles.
The report as compiled by the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Nze Paschal Anigbo, reads, “About 4.02pm, the Command received information about a multiple Road Traffic Crash at the Government House Junction, Awka along Awka-Enugu Expressway, involving 3 Vehicle:. one Toyota Hilux with Registration Number, FG96UOI, white in colour, one Toyota Camry with Reg no. AAA898FL ash in colour and a blue colour Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. GDD97AA.
“The FRSC Rescue Team arrived at the scene at 4.05pm and gathered that the crash occurred about 4pm. The crash occurred as a result of Loss of Control (LOC). A total of 3 Victims (2 male adults and 1 female adult), were involved in the crash. No injury was recorded and there was no death.

“So far, obstructions have been cleared by the FRSC operatives, who are also on ground controlling traffic. The Sector Commander, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, reiterates the need for all motorists to be safety conscious at all times, drive defensively and consider other road users.”
