Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that Liverpool could break their 100-point record this season.

The Reds areon course to better City’s point haul from 2017-18.

Guardiola’s team followed up the next season another 98 points last season, as they pipped Liverpool to the title.

Asked if he expects Liverpool to top his City centurions, Guardiola told reporters: “Yeah it can happen. Records are there to be broken.

“We broke it when someone said we couldn’t and sooner or later it will be broken again.

“History speaks clearly about that. It is not easy to beat Liverpool, they have found a way to win games.”

The city boss who admitted that his team are no longer title contenders has been the Manchester City manager since the start of the 2016/17 campaign.… As a player, Guardiola spent the majority of his career at Barcelona but also played for Brescia, Roma, Al-Ahli and Dorados de Sinaloa.

It would be recalled  that during that 2017-18 campaign they chalked up the most wins (32), the most goals with 106 strikes and the longest run of consecutive victories in a Premier League season (18).

They also equalled the record for the earliest title win when they clinched it with five games to spare.

And they won it by the biggest-ever margin — finishing 19 points above second-placed Manchester United.

But Jurgen Klopp’s men are on course to top several of those feats, racking up 22 wins from 23 so far.

Asked about the prospect of giving up some of those records as well as their trophy in May, Guardiola said: “The records are there to be broken.

“We broke it when someone thought it couldn’t be broken. Sooner or later it will happen, history tells you that.”

Liverpool looked set to slip up when they were pegged back by Wolves on Thursday night but a late Roberto Firmino goal saw them win again.
