Why I Built The Obiofia-Umuenem Road- Chief Obum Nwogu

An Abuja based businessman and philanthropist, Chief Christian Obum Nwogu(Omekaodimma Nnewi) constructed a road and built a drainage for his community in Obiofia-Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi Anambra state.

Recall that the road was commissioned on the 23rd of January by the Igwe of Nnewi, HRH Igwe K.O.N OrizuIII and other stakeholders were present to support the good work.

In an interview with anaedoonline.ng, the philanthropist explained why he embarked on the project. According to him, he stated that, “there is no motive other than that formally we don’t have good roads here and I feel it is very important that we should at least have access to our residence here”.
He narrated his experience about how uneasy it felt coming to the village to drive through the misty-bumpy road. He said the road was also flooded most times and always logged in people’s home and compound. He said he saw it as a point of duty to construct the road with any material intention in mind.
He further stated, “there is no motive, there is no political attachment and I am not looking for any favor from anybody other than a contribution to my own people our people here to have access to the main town and good roads”The drainages were constructed early 2019, while the road project lasted between December 2019, and January 2020.
He said, “road construction is an access to the world, giving us road here is a kind of window, all the resources people are developing from this area can have an access to come in and go out”
The new road has opened up Obiofia-Umuenem in Otolo-Nnewi, this will enable ease of doing business and encourage the people to move about easily.
