A Nigerian Twitter user by handle @happyBBB, has penned down the amazing story of how her mum ran from home at 16, to join the Nigerian army, earned a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s, PGD, to becoming a pharmacist in Canada and now selling truck spare parts.

According to @happyBBB, her mother ran away from abusive home in Benin City to fend for herself in Lagos State. See tweets below :

“My mum ran away from abusive home at 16, her stepmom and dad were pretty evil. They refused to educate her, made her raised her siblings as help. She ran away from Benin to Lagos and joined the army at 16. She put herself through nursing school in the army.

She fought front line in the Liberian war. She also played hockey, while she was in the army and won numerous awards. She met my dad at 21 and didn’t think he was shit. He took my dad 4years to marry her.

She had me at 25 and I was a year, when she got deployed. She came back home, when she got pregnant with my sister in 1992. She retired from the army at early age, when she realised she couldn’t go back, as war was still on.

Instead of just forever retiring, she took GCE and applied to Unilag. She graduated with my brother in her belly. She wrote final exams heavily pregnant, got Master’s and a PGD, led the outpatient pharmacy at Luth.

A little over a decade ago, she had foresight to move out whole family to Canada, because she wanted us to get the best education. She started all over from scratch in her 50s.

She had to recertify, take board exams again at her age. Today, she’s practicing as a pharmacist in Canada and in her spare time, works at an auto shop dissembling truck engine and sending them to Nigeria for her business.

She actually went to Lagos, spent 2months at Lawanson to learn how to dissemble the engines herself. My mum is a legit badass and superhero”
