The Acting Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu has said that President Mohammadu Buhari is eternally committed to working with Nigerians youths in the fight against corruption.
Magu made this known, Friday in Enugu while addressing newsmen at the end of the first ever Nigerian Youths walk against corruption organized by the EFCC in collaboration with the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
Magu who was represented by the Zonal Head, EFCC South East Zonal office, Enugu, Ibrahim Bappa said that the fight against corruption has remained one of the major agenda of the Buhari-led administration.
He said that the walk, which was held concurrently in all the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory is intended to sensitize youths across the country on the need to reject the evils of corrupt practices.
According to him, public enlightenment and sensitization about the menace of corruption has become increasingly imperative and part of efforts to check the evils of economic and financial crimes in our country.
He maintained that the EFCC was ready to ensure public ownership of the fight against crime and corruption, noting that the youths constitute the bulk of the country’s population which is why the commission is trying to awaken and mobilize them to take part in the task of exposing, confronting and tackling the scourge of corruption.
He said that the commission is committed to drawing both local and global attention to the fact that corruption is not a culture in Nigeria, adding that there can be no future for anyone if the menace of corruption is allowed to thrive.
