People who found love in a bar or at a housewarming party may not have a clue of what people who swipe and click their way to love go through on the internet. Online dating has become one of the easiest ways to find love; it is almost certain to assume that most millennials met their partners online.

However, there seems to be a bitter tale to the world of online dating. The internet is littered with fake accounts of people who pretend to be seeking love online but in reality, they are looking for whom to scam. In fact, being scammed means you’re lucky. Some who are looking for affection online has ended up with ritualists that are in dire need of fresh human heads.

Meeting people online is one thing, but getting to know who they really are is becoming increasingly difficult as the judgment of Paris. Do people still find love online? Yes of course, but if you’re looking for dates online, beware of these groups of people.

1. Beware of the group that calls you baby at first chat

You must have heard the phrase, love at first sight in elementary school, but what about love at first chat? Beware of a stranger calling you baby with every message they send. This is the time to discard all those Mills and Boons love fairytales you read during your formative years. The truth is that falling in love requires time and hard work.  Frown at the user same way you probably would frown at a stranger calling you baby or any other pet name on the street.

Also, if within a few messages they’re telling you how much you mean to them, and how they want to spend the rest of their days with you, just run. You’re not running because they called you baby, but you’re running because their intentions are not genuine.

2. The group with no profile picture or too good to be true profile pictures

Why fall in love with someone who uses a car or a flower as a profile picture because of how effortlessly they use words during chatting sessions. Okay, let’s say they are using pictures of celebrities as their avi, but don’t you wanna know the real person you’re chatting with?

Take your time if you’re looking for love online. It is always easy to find a partner in dating sites because there is a presumption that the people you will meet there want a relationship too. After all, that’s why they’re there.

When someone who uses a profile picture of Banky W or Jim Iyke chats you up in a dating site, it is not a miracle. You just have to run or block them.

3. The group that begs you for money after a couple of chat sessions

It is safe to say that women are always the victims of scam in online dating. A man starts the chats with flowery words, tells you he resides in the UK and uses unreal images every second. Then a week later, he is asking you to send money to his mother who just had an accident and may die at any moment if no initial deposit is made to commence treatment.

Avoid this group of people, they are emotional predators. They have taken time to study you during chat sessions. They know your Achilles heel. Don’t expect anyone you meet online to have a genuine heart just like you.

4. The group that wants your nude

‘Hello, Sexy can you send me a naughty picture’ once you receive this kind of message from someone who is wooing you online, run away. Don’t ever let the devil use you in giving the internet a new meme. A lot has happened to people who exchanged nude images online on the ground of trust to a stranger they don’t know. Some has taken the joy-Lobo way because they couldn’t manage the depression and shame that follows it.

5. The group that makes so many promises

Aside from Facebook that is built for people to connect with the community, other dating sites normally have a column where people fill in how much they earn, the type of car they drive and all, which gives the impression that your prospect might be rich. But there is a measuring rod to their bloated riches.

Once they start making promises every minute of how they will buy you a diamond ring and take you around the world on a boat cruise, you have to beware of them. In fact, you need to report the account. The truth is that such people are fake users on the platform, if they’re rich, they won’t probably go about singing it like a song.
