Coronavirus: Africa Records First Case In Egypt

The health ministry in Egypt has confirmed that a “foreigner” in the country was infected with the coronavirus.

The ministry said in a statement that it had notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of the development, adding that it had taken all necessary preventative measures to contain it.

Though it did not disclose the nationality of the affected person, it said the patient had been quarantined.

A top UK media outfit reports that Egypt is believed to be the 28th country to record a case of the killer virus and it is the first in Africa.

More than 64,000 cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed around the world and over a thousand people have died from the diseases.

The SARs-like virus is said to be transmitted between humans and from animals to humans.
