Blackout In Nnewi: EEDC Gives Reasons

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC)

The Management of Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has given reasons and apologised to its customers over lack of power supply being experienced recently in Nnewi and environs.

Emeka Ezeh, Head of Communications, EEDC in a statement on Tuesday, said that the loss of supply currently being experienced in Nnewi District, Anambra State, is as a result of earth fault caused by 3 fallen High Tension poles at Idemili Fly Over in the late hours of Sunday, 15th March, 2020.

According to Emeka Ezeh, the development was as a result of the activities of Julius Berger Construction Company in the ongoing road construction at Idemili, which affected the Old Nnewi 33KV and Nnewi Industrial 33KV feeders with their outgoing 11KV feeders.

Identifying the affected areas, Emeka Ezeh said that electricity users in the entire Nnewichi, Otolo and Mbanagu communities, Chikason Industrial limited, Bengas industrial limited, Innoson motors, the entire Orba, Amichi, Ichi, Uruagu, Umudim and environs, Awka Etiti, Nnobi, Ukpo and Osumenyi communities will be without electricity supply.
