* Orders Clergy and their Family to Worship alone in the Church
Owing to the on-going pandemic caused by the Coronavirus, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo, has shut down Anglican Churches in Onitsha, Idemili and environs.
In a press release, Bishop Owen suspended all forms of public worship in churches and chapels, including Sunday services, weekly services, prayer meetings, faith clinics, victory hours and night programs from Monday 30th March to Tuesday 14 April, 2020, in the Diocese.

He directed that the Diocesan Secretariat will remain closed within the stated period, urging the Clergy and Church Workers to enlighten their congregations and encourage them to remain steadfast and safe.
In respect to Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Early Morning Processions, he also directed for its suspension, he, however, said that the Anglican Bishop, Cathedral Priests and their immediate family members will celebrate the statutory Easter Service privately at the Cathedral.
He directed the Clergy, Catechists and Church Teachers to maintain regular Church Offices, Services, Prayers and Worship in the Churches and Chapels without their various congregations, noting that they should use the worship times privately to pray for our members for God’s provision, protection and mercy.
He charged members to worship at home or follow their Church online services from the comfort of their homes, urging members to maintain their regular worship duty to God and the Church.

Coronavirus pandemic is an ongoing pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome. The outbreak was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei, China, in December 2019, and was recognized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11th March 2020.
As at today, 27th March, more than 574,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in over 190 countries and territories, resulting in approximately 26,300 deaths and more than 129,000 recoveries.
