The reasons behind the sudden removal of former Accountant General of Imo State have finally unfolded, if what our sources gathered are to be considered.
The number one citizen of Imo Hope Uzodinma on Wednesday ordered the sack with immediate effect of the former Accountant General of the state Mr Donald Igbo and immediately replaced him with Sir Valentine Chukwukama Obieze.
Our sources uncovered reasons that may have been responsible for the action.
One of the major reasons for the sack of Mr Igbo as gathered by reliable source may not be unconnected to suspected sabotage. He was accused of working against the Uzodinma’s led government and sabotaging the Governor’s efforts.
It could be recalled that one of the major promises Gov Hope Uzodinma echoed in his maiden broadcast was prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and he further promised that salaries of workers be paid every 25th of the month.
But since he came on board, the promise to pay every 25 of the month has not only failed but many categories of workers were yet to get previous salaries of past months till date.
Against the backdrop of this development sources reported that accusing fingers were pointed in the direction of the sacked AG who was alleged to be dormant in carrying out the governor’s directives.
Not wanting to fail on his promise, Gov Hope Uzodinma immediately ordered for the removal the Mr Igbo.

Also said to be another major reason is the background of Mr Igbo who was brought in by the Rochas Okorocha administration and retained by Emeka Ihedioha who wanted to use him to understand the system on ground when he became governor.
Sources in Government House supposedly disclosed to our source that Uzodinma was very uncomfortable that the man in charge of money was a product of his predecessors. Not wanting to have an “enemy” within, Igbo had to go.
In order to be on a safer side, the Oru East born governor felt safer working with his kinsman from Akatta, a neighbouring village with Omuma where the governor comes from.
Uzodinma is said to be more relaxed with the appointment of Valentine Obieze, believing he would take every instructions seriously, especially as it concerns regular and timely payment of pension and salaries.
