Okigwe Senate Seat: Ex-PDP Chairman Refutes Endorsing Any Aspirant

As the battle for the Senate seat of Imo North vacated by late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, intensifies, former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairmen in Okigwe Zone have refuted a newspaper publication that they alongside over 5000 supporters, have endorsed a particular aspirant.

Making the clarification in Owerri during a media parley with journalists, former PDP chairman Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area, Hon. Jude Anthony Ofoegbu said the publication was in bad faith as he alongside fellow decampees have not endorsed anybody.

According to him, their decision to decamp to All Progressives Congress, APC, was first and foremost to support governor Hope Uzodinma on his prosperity government mantra describing the governor’s programmes as vital to the economic growth of the state.

determination to mobilize for APC in the forth coming Okigwe Zone Senatorial election saying the interest of Ihitte Uboma and Okigwe Zone remains the reason for their decision to join APC.

While pledging to work with governor Uzodinma and appointees from Ihitte Uboma especially the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Simon Ibegbulam and the Ihitte Uboma Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Chikwe Olemgbe and others, they advised APC Senatorial aspirants from Imo North to maintain decorum in their aspiration and desisit from blackmailing members of the party.

Also speaking, High Chief Hycienth Okoroafor, former PDP Deputy Chairman and Hon. Pastor Loveday Goddy Iwuanyanwu, former assistant publicity Secretary, said the over 5000 members that left PDP to join APC, was a demonstration that they appreciate the programmes and projects of governor Hope Uzodinma saying Okigwe Zone will benefit immensely from Uzodinma’s government.

They equally refuted the newspaper publication that they have endorsed a particular aspirant describing it as negative politics taken too far. While assuring their loyalty to APC they vowed to support any aspirant that will have the interest of the people at heart.
